More Tigers

As you can see, the "Big Cats" were the big hit at the zoo. We were a little disappointed when we saw the list of animals-no giraffes, elephants, lions, etc. They had a lot of western things. Wolves, Moose, elk, mountain lions, prairie dogs(ha!) We really enjoyed watching the tigers and they were inches away from our faces on the other side of the glass! I've never been so "close" to animals before at any zoo.

Tigers!

I love how it looks like Jordan is sneaking up on them.

I think this aquarium was their favorite thing!

First trip to the Zoo

We went to the Dakota Zoo in Bismarck, ND last Sat. with Kirk & Sara Duvall & their kids. They are missionaries in Norris, SD. (about 3 hrs. from us) We had a great time and the kids loved it! It was Brianna's (and of course Daniel's) first zoo trip. The zoo was actually in a huge park and there were pavilions and playgrounds everywhere. Notice our pizza picnic! I'll post more pics of zoo later.

This outfit that Daniel is wearing was Jordan's when he was a baby. I think it's such a neat idea to save outfits for your Grandkids. I plan to do so!

My Baby Girl

My baby is growing up! She constantly amazes me with all of the things she comes up with. I wish I could remember them all. Her latest thing is learning the books of the Bible. We are learning them in S.S. and one day she was sitting at the table and started rattling them off. I was so shocked. She can say the first 5 on her own and a lot of the O.T. with prompting. She asked me why the kids don't know "Ronomy" & "Exters". She also says "Epesiastes" for Ecclesiastes. She loves Daniel and loves to play with him and make him smile. She is a tremendous help to me-great at running after diapers, bibs, burp cloths, etc. Here she is reading a magazine on her rocking horse from Uncle Jon!

2 Months!

Actually he's 2 1/2 months now, but I'm just getting around to sending these pictures! Daniel is the sweetest baby! (I'm not prejudiced or anything) He smiles all the time now, coos and sort of like gives an excited little scream. His legs are very strong and he likes to stand. He is a little cuddlebug and his mommy loves that! He is so much fun and we just love him to pieces.
At his 2 month doctor visit he weighed in at 13 lbs. and he was over 24 in long! I love my kids' doctor. He is an older, grandfatherly type. He spends time talking to the kids, gives Brianna stickers, etc. He spent several minutes just talking to Daniel, trying to make him smile. He succeeded!

With friends

Liz, Rachel & I were the Ladies' Trio in our Freshman Year.
We "tried" to sing a song at camp, but it didn't work too well.
I guess we were goofing off too much.

Some of my college freshman class. Reunion at Stoneboro. We were amazed at how many of us were there. Hansel was there also, but I don't think he would've cared to have his picture taken with a bunch of girls!

Liz, Lori & I. The three of us were great friends as teens,
in college and even now!
While at Stoneboro Camp, we went out with Matt, Davonna & Kiera after church one night. They are some of our best friends. Matt & Jordan and Davonna & I were both friends before either of us started dating. It makes
for great times now when we are together. It was great to get caught up with friends and family.

Bonding Time & Tea Time

Best Friends

Elisabeth Bell and I have been friends since we were 8 years old. We promised each
other once that no matter what happened in life,we would remain friends. Here we are 18 years later with 2 kids each! She drove to Stoneboro with her two boys, Christian and Camden,
to see us. We had such a good time. Chris & Brianna are just about 4 months apart and had so
much fun together. I think the whole marshmallow progression thing is hilarious!

Getting Caught Up

I know-here it is the middle of September and I’m still blogging about our trip at the beginning of August! I just had so many pictures I wanted to share and have been so busy since we got back.
This past week has been crazy and lots has happened. Joe Smith (he went to the church we pastored in VA) is a pilot and had a flight to Pierre, SD. He flew in, drove to our house and stayed for 3 days. We had a wonderful time of getting caught up and the guys worked on putting in a new floor and door and other repairs in the church entryway. It looks sooooo nice!

Wednesday we found out that there had been a shooting down at the elementary school in Little Eagle. Fortunately, no one was killed. A guy from Eagle Butte (about an hour away) came to shoot his girlfriend who worked there. A cop wearing a bullet-proof vest was shot and then the guy shot himself. We heard that he shot himself in the head, but survived. Don’t ask me how that happened. We were so thankful that no one was killed and no kids were hurt. These are kids that come to S.S. Then a little later, we heard that a young man had gotten drunk and was trying to hit his sister and her baby. The grandpa (who is one of our regulars) called the cops and then the guy went outside and started cutting himself. The uncle of this guy would be Aljoe, the dad of the baby who just died. He was drunk too and very upset about the autopsy results that were supposed to come back the next day. We drove to Bullhead (about 15 miles one way) to try to talk and pray with his girlfriend and couldn’t find her. We are concerned that they are worried about the results. He was talking about how he would go to jail for her. Pray that this situation will all work out. They have been tender since the funeral and coming to church. Jordan went down that night to try to talk to Aljoe and keep him from getting more drunk. He didn’t get home until the middle of the night. Talk about stress for one day!

Jordan tried to go see Grady in jail yesterday, but they wouldn’t let him in because they only allow visitors on Tues-Thurs.

A visit to a "Great" Aunt

We were able to stop and see my Aunt Isabelle (my dad's sister)
She is very special to me and is like my Grandma. My dad's mom
died when I was a teen. She just loves the kids and was so excited to see them.

My little Peruvian

The Peruvian Peaks came for a missions service before we
left on our trip and Sis. Peak dressed Brianna up in this little outfit.

I didn't remember to take a picture of his tails until later.
